What is RSS?
RSS is a technology that is being used by millions of web users around the world to keep track of their favorite websites.
In the ‘old days’ of the web to keep track of updates on a website you had to ‘bookmark’ websites in your browser and manually return to them on a regular basis to see what had been added. RSS makes it a lot easier by delivering the content from all your favorite websites to a single place, your RSS readers. So instead of manually checking all your favorite websites for new content, you simply log into your RSS reader and see all the updates in one single place.
Google Reader is a nice free RSS reader. You simply log into your account, same as if you are using Gmail, and read the news from all your favorite sites. To subscribe to a new site, you just click on the add subscription link on the left hand side of the screen and copy in the RSS feed of the site you want to subscribe too.
